MEDHA 2025

Medical Device Hackathon popularly known as MEDHA conducted on 30th October to 1st November 2025 at MIT School of Bioengineering (MITBIO), MIT-ADT University, Pune. MEDHA is an initiative of BETiC- Biomedical Engineering and Technology Incubation Centre at IIT Bombay. It is a three-day Hackathon whose main aim is to identify young medical device innovators. Students from various streams like medical engineering, Bioengineering, and industrial design team together and came up with indigenous cost-effective medical devices which can impact human health.

The guest of the function were Dr. Dinesh Kabre, Kabre Orthopaedic, Spine and Dental Centre in Chinchwad, Pune, Dr. Dasmit Singh, Head of department of Paediatric, BJ Medical Pune, Dr. Nilesh Madkikar, ENT/ Otorhinolaryngologist, Plastic Surgeon, and Somnologist (Sleep Specialist) in Wanowrie, Pune, Dr. Ramesh Vyvahare, Radiologist and Managing Director at TELEDIAGNOSTIC SOLUTIONS, Pune, Dr. Shrikant Pawar, General Manager and Lab Director for R&D (Serology & Microbiome) at Mylab Discovery Solutions, Pune, Col. Dr. Chetna Arora, MBBS, MD., Assoc Professor, AFMC, Pune, Anal Dharamshi, Capgemini, Cognizant and Medtronic’s MIT-ADT University, Pune.

The chief organizers of the event were Prof. Vinayak Ghaisas, Director, MITBIO and Dr. Renu Vyas, Head of School, MITBIO.

Dr. Dinesh Kabre inspired the participant and mentioned the importance of event and said that such events are the need of time. Dr. Dasmit Singh discussed the need for multidisciplinary knowledge in the Healthcare sector. He also explained the criteria on which the different teams got evaluated and how participants can do better.

Dr. Ramesh Vyvahare, Dr. Shrikant Pawar, Col. Dr. Chetna Arora, Mr. Anal Dharamshi mentored students and given the insights and feedback on the problem statements given to the participants.

From a total of 100 applications, only the best 60 participants were selected and divided into 10 teams to battle it out in a 40 hours’ non-stop event. The teams developed innovative solutions under the guidance of MITBIO and BETiC mentors and presented their proof of concept and prototypes to a team of eminent jury members consisting of doctors Dr. Dasmit Singh, Dr. Nilesh Madkikar, Dr. Shrikant Pawar.

The organising committee consisted of Dr. Mahesh Maindarkar, Dr. Mahesh Patil, Dr. Navya Sethu and Prof. Prasad Kirtane. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Yogita Ranade who encouraged all participants to develop further upon their idea towards enhancing human healthcare.
